Description

 

The Health, Safety, Environmental Coordinator will make decisions or strongly influence decisions regarding safety, environmental and training that are integrated into RCH operations in a timely and efficient manner.  The ability to initiate action, use sound business judgment, technical knowledge and creativity are required to fulfill the long-term goal and objectives that will impact the overall safety, environmental and training of RCH and its employees.

Job Highlights

 

  • Lead or participate in all HAZOP’s, Safety and Housekeeping meetings, Safety Assessment meetings, Pre-startup Safety Reviews, turnover inspections, formal investigations and all internal, external and customer audits
  • Facilitate the safety program by working with operations to complete plant inspections, KPI monitoring/reporting, and training using the Lanxess LMS.  Lead and monitor department safety initiative. Maintain safety and environmental training records for the area, as well as skills training records for topped-out operator
  • Establish and maintain the list of PSRM covered chemicals, ensuring that each team member is aware of each chemical covered
  • Coordinate the overall emergency preparedness function to maintain prevention and response programs, resources and procedures
  • Manage all waste by tracking and shipping of all waste disposal and maintaining records of such disposal.  Work with team trainers to organize training needed for each employee
  • Provide, as required, updates to operating procedures, participate in the capital project management system and reviews and provide work direction/information to the shift teams through the Daily Operating Guidelines.     
  • Active Required Committees: Aspects and Impacts Committee, HSE Steering Committee, Safety and Health Committee, Site S2P2 Committee (safety and pollution prevention)
  • Ensures that Safety, OSHA, USEPA, SC DES and other regulatory requirements are met or exceeded in functional areas.  Participates in Safety Audits, Process Safety Management, ISO 9001, RC 14001 and Site Safety Process activities to ensure requirements are met or exceeded.  Adheres with HSEQ policies and procedures in functional area.  Provides input as needed to the ISO 9100 and RC 14001 Management Review Teams.
  • Active in developing, maintaining and implementing programs for safety, environmental and training to meet the requirements of government, corporate and plant policy.
  • Recognize and address changes in customer demands, production unit modifications, new equipment and government regulations that would require changes to existing training programs          

Requirements

 

  • Minimum 3- 5 years of industrial experience in safety, environmental and training. 
  • Undergraduate degree with three years experience or a Production Operator with at least seven years experience in a plant environment                  
  • Broad practical technical knowledge of the applicable equipment and processes
  • Ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities
  • Willingness to adapt to non-routine variations in work schedule
  • Experience with special programs to maintain safety, environmental and training effectiveness and to make improvements or adjustments where warranted.
