Job Highlights
- Learn the responsibilities of an engineer with exposure to process and project engineering
- Incorporate academic knowledge into hands-on work
- Develop working understanding of manufacturing, production and project scheduling, quality control and safety
- Gain hands on shop floor experience with other engineers, operators and manufacturing resources.
- Work independently as well as with other cross-functional resources to complete various tasks and objectives.
- Work productively with others in evaluating problems and alternatives
- Work independently as well as with cross functional teams (including but not limited to engineering, manufacturing, quality functions) to implement process improvements on site.
- Support process and project engineering activities on site
- Support completion of process hazard analysis action items
- Review Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) including review and field verification
- Review operations with manufacturing personnel and others. This includes reviewing of processes, procedures, and equipment both in an office setting as well as on the manufacturing shop floor
- Learn safety policies and procedures.
- Generate reports and periodic project updates as requested.
- Prepare and present a summary of experiences and lessons learned to Management staff at conclusion of internship.
- Professional development with exposure to broad technical organization, including experts in project management, design engineering, process safety, occupational safety, manufacturing maintenance, etc.
Experience / Skills
- Must have completed at least Sophomore year of college and be pursuing a Bachelor Degree in Engineering
- Classroom experience in core chemical engineering or other engineering disciplines (e.g. mass/energy balances, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics) with prior intern/co-op experience preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word desirable
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Strong organizational and communications skills

The pay rate per hour depends on years of schooling completed at the time of the internship and major of the candidate. The minimum starting pay rate for an engineering major would be $24.60/hr.
