Job Highlights

The primary purpose of this position is to manage the South Arkansas RCRA/DOT programs to ensure federal, state, and local agency compliance. The Head of RCRA will develop hazardous/solid waste compliance policies, programs, procedures, and systems to ensure continuous improvement.  The Head of RCRA will function as the head of the Solid Waste Management Group in the LANXESS Environmental Department dedicated to minimizing environmental impacts, seeking sustainable solutions whenever possible, and minimizing company liabilities associated with all RCRA issues. Duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Advise Leadership, Engineers, and Maintenance as subject matter expert (SME) in RCRA regulations and related compliance programs.  Participate in site MOC, HAZOP, and Incident Tracking processes as RCRA SME
  • Manage/improve waste testing, determinations, characterization and profiling processes.
  • Manage/improve waste handling, storage, transport, manifesting and exception reporting processes.
  • Work with Procurement team on commercial agreements, PR’s, PO’s and invoices.
  • Manage South Arkansas RCRA Biennial Reports and Contingency Plans.
  • Develop Waste Minimization Projects and the resources to complete them.
  • Staff and develop the South Arkansas Waste Management Group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering or similar field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements are a must.
  • Current CHMM Certification or the ability to acquire this certification within 1 to 2 years is preferred.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
