Job Highlights

  • Manage and coach the engineering functions - process, project and reliability.  Increase profitability and competitiveness of LANXESS production processes through technological progress
  • Increase production efficiency, production capacity, product quality at minimum CAPEX
  • Ensure safe, stable and reliable process operation 
  • Provide expertise on highest level in different disciplines including: 
    • Conceptual Process Design and Benchmarking: conceptual process design, process synthesis, energy efficiency projects, energy integration, pinch analysis,
    • Fluid and Solid Processing: design of distillation and absorption processes, extraction, phase separation, crystallization, filtration, drying,
    • Process Modeling: mathematical modeling, process simulation incl. dynamic simulation, mathematical optimization, and process data analysis.
    • Operation Support and Safety: process equipment design, fluid dynamics incl. CFD, mixing technology, polymer technology, process and plant safety, e.g. design of safety valves.
  • Support business units to satisfy legal requirements in production by providing technical solutions 
  • Direct the activities of the engineering staff to improve the safety and operational efficiency of the plants.
  • Coach the plant engineers in the LANXESS directives and standards for engineering.
  • Prioritize all improvement activities including projects destined for Capital Engineering.
  • Review progress on the sites' improvement activities.
  • Provide expert engineering assessments for upcoming projects.
  • Lead and perform troubleshooting and task force projects in case of safety incidents, environmental incidents, disturbances and interruptions in production.
  • Provide technical solutions for Process Safety and deliver calculations to guarantee safe process operation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Chemical Engineering. Advanced degree strongly preferred. 
  • 10+ years of chemical (or similar) industry experience.
  • Broad process engineering competence and significant process engineering experience. Ability to develop engineering solutions for most complex process systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PSM best practices and experience implementing these in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a technical role. 
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program and an individual performance bonus program. The minimum pay for this position is $148,600. Please note, the actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
