Job Highlights

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for leading the health and safety team, ensuring the security of South Arkansas LANXESS operations in accordance with Homeland Security requirements and insuring training for employees is at a high level of quality provided in a comprehensive manner.  This position has a large span of control consisting of LANXESS and contract employees. In addition to the above responsibility, this role is responsible for ensuring industrial hygiene program implementation and responsible care initiatives are completed. Primary duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Lead the health and safety process to ensure appropriate systems are developed and in place to ensure, safe work environments are present for personnel working and visiting LANXESS production facilities to include KPI reporting and tracking of corrective actions.
  • Ensure implementation of security polices and post orders that describe measures and practices implemented to ensure security and control of hazardous materials received or shipped from LANXESS operations in South Arkansas in accordance with CFATS requirements.
  • Represent the company during regulatory inspections as a subject matter expert and guide to site leadership.  Monitor proposed legislation and coordinate with BU and PLA in assessing potential impacts on operations to ensure aligned communications.  Work with the local emergency response agencies.
  • Coordinate initiatives with BU, Corporate, and external auditors about maintaining compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements e.g.; compliance checks, RCMS, Homeland Security inspections, ISO, and incident investigations.
  • Oversee and coordinate a concerted evaluation process of HSST functions to ensure compliance with company and corporate policies in addition to regulatory requirements through auditing and reporting of findings to leadership team for action and support in correcting deviations from established expectations in the operational units.
  • Be a constant champion of the “LANXESS Performance Culture” guidance in the development of individuals and teams to be active contributors to the success of the organization.

Requirements

  • Engineering or science degree required (chemical, environmental, mechanical, electrical, or safety).  Safety professional certification (CSP or CIH preferred).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • RC 14000 /TapRoot methodology/PSM experience
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Project management experience
  • Industrial Hygiene experience

  • Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program and an individual performance bonus program. The established pay range for this position is $125,000 to $166,600. Please note, the actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
