Job Highlights

 

This position serves as a technical Subject Matter Expert to (1) develop and maintain Industrial Hygiene standards and procedures, (2) advance the health and safety culture and effectively leverage and apply learnings, and (3) drive continuous improvement, and promote a culture of urgency and zero tolerance for unsafe conditions and behaviors across all LANXESS South Arkansas facilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement the site’s Industrial Hygiene and occupational health processes, which include but are not limited to the identification, assessment, prevention, and control of occupational health hazards and risks.
  • Create a process and develop tools to evaluate, anticipate, measure, and control potential industrial hygiene-related exposures, including chemical, physical, and biological exposures. Create processes to conduct qualitative and quantitative IH assessments to understand potential exposures and implement systems to ensure exposures are below regulatory and/or applicable recommended exposure levels.
  • Manage and track IH data and metrics and report as appropriate. Manage, calibrate, utilize IH equipment and/or oversee labs that provide the equipment or services. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (OSHA Z tables, 1910.94, 1910.134, 1910.1200, etc.)
  • Develop and implement compliance processes, including—but not limited to—respiratory protection (fit testing), chemical protective equipment, ergonomics, hearing conservation, medical surveillance, exposure monitoring, blood-borne pathogens, hazard communication, etc.

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in the Health, Occupational Safety, or related field or equivalent combination of work experience and education. 
  • 3+ years of experience working in this field is strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience developing and writing reports for compliance and regulatory obligations, audits, and safety communications both internal and external. 
  • Ability to communicate detailed safety compliance and regulatory information to employees.
  • Prior experience performing Safety and Industrial Hygiene audits and inspecting chemical processing units and facilities.
