Job Highlights
The Plant Controller is responsible for managing all controlling activities at the Elmira plant in Canada, with a strong focus on accurate cost management, financial planning, and monthly performance analysis. This role ensures the standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement of site-specific controlling processes in alignment with corporate guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Cost Monitoring & Analysis: Monitor, report, and analyze manufacturing costs, production variances (volume, process orders, and spending), as well as production volumes. Oversee the monthly closing process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial performance.
- Financial Support & Collaboration: Act as the primary contact for the Plant Manufacturing team and BU Controlling on all financial matters, including providing ad-hoc analysis, project support, and financial guidance to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Reporting Development: Design, develop, and enhance financial reports and analytical frameworks using Lanxess Business Warehouse, SAP L4P, and Microsoft Excel. Focus on improving the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial reporting to support data-driven decision-making at the plant level.
- Budgeting: Lead the plant’s budgeting process, including cost center planning, review of standard costs, and regular updates to Bills of Materials (BOMs). Ensure accuracy and relevance of financial data for forecasting and operational planning.
Experience and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of core finance and accounting experience. Past experience in a manufacturing operation a plus.
- Senior management and strategy experience (to support decision making process and advise plant management).
- Experience with compliance regulations and internal controls (ensuring financial disclosures).
- Advanced computer skills, especially in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).
- Strong IT knowledge to include SAP
- Must have strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate and collaborate in cross functional teams.

The Elmira facility is a state of the art production facility used to manufacture synthetic lubricants and additives for lubricants, plastics and rubber. In addition to the main production facilities we have a comprehensive wastewater treatment system that is used to treat all of the process wastewater that is generated on site, and a groundwater treatment system to remove historic contaminants prior to discharge. The Elmira site is also home to a pilot plant, which is used by our scientists and engineers to develop and test new products and production processes.
Situated on 75 acres (of which 22 acres are used for operations), the manufacturing facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hourly employees are represented by the United Steelworkers Union.
The West Hill facility began its operations in 1962, The first operation at the West Hill site consisted of a custom blending facility for a major Canadian oil and gas company. In 1992, the property at 565 Coronation Drive was purchased. It currently houses offices, a research and development laboratory and a finished goods warehouse.

Today, around 100 employees work at the West Hill facility where we manufacture Grease and Specialty Additives. Our grease is used to keep machinery running smoothly in food processing, manufacturing, marine, power generation and many other industries. Our Specialty Additives and lubricants are used in automotive, marine and aviation oils, transmission fluids and fuels to enhance performance and extend engine life.
Both sites (Elmira and West Hill) are registered under the ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management standards.

The established pay range for this position is a Min: $105,500 to MAX $175,800. Actual compensation will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
