Job Highlights
The Process Engineer will ensures the continuous improvement of the assigned processes by proactively monitoring the process variables to identify and resolve issues that improve overall process safety and reliability. The Process Engineer is expected to initiate the required changes in operational practices and to train operations personnel as defined by the improvement opportunities and plant priorities. On a day to day basis the Process Engineer reviews and analyses key process variables for the assigned area and provides technical support and advice to ensure process reliability from a process and safety perspective.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide day to day process support of the designated process areas of responsibility. Support includes resolving process performance anomalies.
- Conducts process data analysis and engineering calculations to recommend and implement continuous improvement changes for the assigned areas of the manufacturing processes. Define required changes through the scoping of capital projects and or improved operational standard practices.
- Development of core know-how in process engineering disciplines such as explosion protection, safety system design, equipment specification, data analysis, etc.
- Serve as the process or project lead for small capital projects.
- Preparation of equipment and process data for LANXESS’ Process Hazard Analysis process and assist in the PHA process for the assigned areas. Follow up and close action items from the PHAs
- Lead engineering projects to improve safety, reliability, environmental or cost performance.
Experience / Skills
- B.S. in Engineering (Chemical) is required.
- P. Eng. certification an asset, or ability to be certified in Ontario within 2 years.
- 3 or more years experience in similar role.
- Possesses advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities and a strong awareness of larger team/department strategies and customer needs
- Strong management skills and demonstrated ability to manage contractors and review their results
- Monitor external and internal trends, develop procedures, make judgements an take actions that may set precedents

The Elmira facility is a state of the art production facility used to manufacture synthetic lubricants and additives for lubricants, plastics and rubber. In addition to the main production facilities we have a comprehensive wastewater treatment system that is used to treat all of the process wastewater that is generated on site, and a groundwater treatment system to remove historic contaminants prior to discharge. The Elmira site is also home to a pilot plant, which is used by our scientists and engineers to develop and test new products and production processes.
Situated on 75 acres (of which 22 acres are used for operations), the manufacturing facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our hourly employees are represented by the United Steelworkers Union.

Actual compensation will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
