Job Highlights

  • Learn to work with the site P&IDs
    • Ability to find equipment in the field
    • Communicate changes to the P&IDs from field verification
  • Learn typical chemical plant equipment and processes that the site uses
  • Assist in the management of the site’s safety critical equipment list based off information from the PHA’s completed for the site
  • Assist in the completion of action items from PHA’s
    • Identify equipment in the field based off the PHA action items
    • Properly fill in missing information
  • Work with maintenance, process, and HSE stakeholders to complete tasks
  • Own smaller projects generated from PHA action items
  • Assist on capital projects as needed
  • Give direction to mechanics on work orders generated from PHA action items
  • Label safety critical equipment in the field
  • About 30% to 50% of time will be spent in the field

Requirements

  • Junior or senior level student working towards an engineering degree in Chemical/Materials/Mechanical Engineering with ability to work part-time hours during the school semester.
  • Able to learn the concepts and ideas involved in a process hazard analysis (PHA) and hazard and operability study (HAZOP)
  • Able to take incomplete/missing information and determine its meaning using available resources.
  • Able to communicate to manager when assistance/guidance is needed to accomplish a task.
  • Willingness to work in an outdoor chemical plant environment.
  • Willingness to verify and gather information in the field.
  • Ability to read and follow P&IDs is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to use Autodesk/AutoCAD to update P&IDs is a plus but not required.
