Job Highlights

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is accountable for achieving targets in the areas of Safety, Quality, Production and Budgets (Costs).  This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing departments to drive on-time delivery and customer satisfaction. 

  • Managing the activities of Production Supervisors or Shift Leaders to ensure the effective, timely manufacture of products (esterification, blending and packaging)
  • Coordinates separate manufacturing operations or areas using common production equipment, methods, and standards over a multiple shift period
  • Manages Production Operations within a production department possibly multiple shifts or across several departments on a single shift
  • Ensures compliance with safety rules and regulations
  • Directs all related manufacturing personnel actions, including final selection, training, performance appraisal, discipline, safety and grievance procedures in unionized environments
  • Ensures production schedules meet and exceed optimum productivity, quality and cost levels
  • Provides technical and operational coaching to Production Supervision/Shift Leaders
  • Support achievement of financial objectives by scheduling expenditures and implementing cost-saving measures
  • Recommends improvements in production flow or methods
  • Minimum B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years related experience managing a salary & hourly staff in a manufacturing environment 
  • SAP skills in the production module is an asset
  • Continuous improvement skills in LEAN, SIX SIGMA, root cause analysis
  • Must have a good knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Sound knowledge of MOC, PHA
  • Technical / mechanical skills preferred
  • Ability to drive a team to achieve results
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems is expected
