Job Highlights

The position provides maintenance support for the assigned shift. The nature of this role is to ensure that the production unit is supported on shift to allow the safe, environmentally responsible maximum production.

  • Instrument/Electrical equipment troubleshooting, repair, calibration and replacement.
  • Mechanical equipment preventive and predictive maintenance. Reactive maintenance as required to get the unit operational quickly during unplanned outages.
  • Housekeeping of work areas.
  • Safety: Perform work safely and by procedure.
  • Expected to help shift-mates with production-related tasks when not otherwise occupied with maintenance duties.
  • During the construction and commissioning phase of the project, work on tasks and project components as assigned.

The position is accountable for performing job functions in accordance with the site and corporate Responsible Care initiatives including Health, Environment, Safety and Security (RC-HESS), which includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

  • Knowledge and use of site/work area HES procedures and work practices at all times
  • Maintaining a clean and uncluttered work area.
  • Immediate reporting of incidents, injuries, illnesses, exposures (e.g. to chemicals) and near hits.
  • Immediate correction and/or reporting of all hazardous acts and conditions.
  • Cooperation and participation in the site HES Performance Indicator programs core elements including work area inspections, job safety analyses/observations, training and meetings.

Requirements

  • 2-year certificate or Associate Degree from an accredited school of instrumentation and/or electronics, OR Associate Degree in Industrial Technology or other mechanical discipline. Must have graduated prior to beginning work.  Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • The ideal candidate has formal electrical or mechanical training as noted above, but also has experience and know-how with the other discipline. Examples would be-- an electrician who also has mechanical experience, or a mechanic who is comfortable with electrical work.
  • Candidates must demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn additional skills as noted above.
  • Current fork truck license/certification or experience preferred.
  • Previous compounding or plastics manufacturing experience a plus.
  • Requires flexibility and ability to handle stress well with regard to production requirements.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy equipment; must be physically capable of climbing.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use MS Office software (Word, Excel)
  • Candidates should be aware that shift system will start as an 8-hour shift, but may increase later to a 12-hour shift system with expected increasing production.
