Job Highlights

  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Provide leadership and growth of the site quality control laboratory personnel.  Provide professional and technical support, directing work allocations, training and developing personnel, ensuring the safe, correct and timely completion of activities and tasks.  Promote a positive team environment within the lab and with all other groups that interact with the lab (production, shipping/receiving, customer service, maintenance, site management).
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ensure the laboratory safety and health programs are maintained consistently with all global, regional and BU programs (XAct, STOP, etc.).  This includes maintenance of the lab industrial hygiene plan. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Maintain and develop, as required, all quality control methods and procedures.  This includes method validation and improvement.  Work need to be done in accordance with ISO9001, RC14001 and LANXESS management system requirements. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ensure the proper execution of all quality control testing for raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods release testing, including issuing and re-issuing Certificates of Analysis.  Ensure proper collection and analysis of special samples, such as wastewater and stormwater.  Proper records retention is critical for this element, including site-only records and SAP records. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Participate in product development, process improvement and batch process updating (MOC).  This includes development and testing of production recipes, scale-up of processes, material balance and yield/consumption evaluations, and special testing, as necessary.  This activity includes the introduction of new processes to the site that are successfully used elsewhere within LANXESS but at other sites and within other business lines. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Ensure the availability of all laboratory supplies necessary for proper operation of the laboratory.  This includes equipment, consumables, packaging, calibration standards, etc
  • <span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Lead the review and investigation of internal and external product complaints and process non-conformances to ensure accurate root cause analysis and sufficient corrective action planning has occurred, amending processes as appropriate and provided effective measurement and tracking of such planning. 

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology;  advanced degree preferred. Equivalent work experience acceptable.

Professional Experience - 5 to 10 Years

Leadershp Experience - Very important/Required

Project Management Experience - Advantage and preferred

Other Competencies:

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Cross-functional Quality Control laboratory experience in a plant or manufacturing environment required.  Chemical industry experience is very important. 

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Exceptional communication and presentation skills.

<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">Knowledge of ISO 9001 and RC 14001 certification standards and processes is of advantage.
