Job Highlights

As part of the operations group, the Process Control Technician/Engineer is responsible for the programming, maintenance and upgrading of the plant process control systems and for the development and implementation of projects that improve safety and reliability as well as resolve operational challenges.

  • Maintain complaince for process control inspection and testing programs (Safety Instrumented Systems, instrument loop testing and calibrations) and maintain associated documentation
  • Design, program and implement process control modifications for projects or operating/optimization requirements
  • Design and implement advanced process control techniques
  • Maintain the process control system and documentation
  • Provide electrical and instrumentation expertise and support to the plant maintenance team
  • Identify process control software, hardware and field instrument improvements
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of software and instruments
  • Provide training and support for site process control system users
  • Execute small scale capital projects and provide programming/instrument/electrical support for larger projects performed by internal/external support functions
  • Develop and communicate the main KPIs of the control system to forecast investment needs
  • Drive digital mindset and implement new technology within the site
  • Support local IT needs and interface with corporate IT

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, electrical or automation engineering or 5 years industry experience
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience in process control or instrumentation within a manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and DCS
  • Basic electrical and instrumentation knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience in PLC programming, tuning of control loops and HMI development
  • Project managment experience
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and creative thinking
  • High energy level and positive attitude
  • Knowledge of advanced process control techniques is a plus
