Job Highlights

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all asset and facilities maintenance for our multi-process specialty chemical production site.  The Kalama site is a 24/7 synthetic organic chemical manufacturing site with complex operations including continuous and batch processes, multiple steam and hot oil boilers, and two wastewater treatment plants. This position is a member of the Site Leadership Team and the individual will perform all duties in a way that supports the site’s health, safety, environmental, quality, food safety, and reliability standards.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Develop long term maintenance strategies aligned with plant objectives and industry best practices.  Collaborate with site management team to establish maintenance priorities and resource allocation strategies.  Identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and direction to (4) direct reports and (23) indirect reports.  Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within team.  Set clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Develop and maintain asset management strategy to maximize the lifespan and performance of plant equipment.  Oversee preventative maintenance program and implement predictive maintenance program.  Develop and implement procedures, processes, and training for CMMS utilization, QA/QC, and Cost Control.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.  Prepare regular reports on maintenance performance KPI's.  Participate in audits and inspections related to maintenance activities and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.  Encourage employee participation in problem solving and process improvements.  Stay informed about technology advancements and industry best practices.
  • Work closely with Planner, Scheduler, and Production Managers to implement small outage inspection plans and support major turnaround outages.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical or other related engineering discipline is strongly preferred. 
  • 10+ years of leadership experience combined with the technical knowledge and expertise required to manage all aspects of maintenance for a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing operation.
  • Superior leadership skills with the ability to influence and direct employees, teams, and department.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, communicate feedback clearly, and to lead, mentor, and train a team. 
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment on building a culture of safety, mitigating risk and reduction of incidents and accidents.
  • Previous experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the properties, behaviors, and hazards of equipment used onsite at chemical plants.
  • Thorough understanding of Industry Code Regulations and RAGAGEP Requirements related to chemical plant operations and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in development and use of a Maintenance CMMS.  SAP experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint) and Teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment drawings, safety procedures, including state and federal OSHA guidelines.

Please note, the actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, work experience, education, and skill level.
