Job Highlights
The Shift Chemist is responsible for the chemical analysis of raw materials, in-process materials, finished product and wastewater. Responsibilities also include reagent preparation and laboratory equipment maintenance and verification. This position contributes to the timely release of finished goods, the reduction of non-prime product, and monitoring of the site’s wastewater facilities. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Reagent preparations
- Incoming raw material analysis and release
- In-process product testing
- Finished product testing
- Laboratory equipment maintenance and verification
- Wastewater testing
- Attendance and completion of required training and participation in safety meetings
Requirements
- **Important Note** This position works a 24/7 rotating shift schedule which consists of two 12-hour day shifts, two 12-hour night shifts, followed by four days off. This includes weekends and holidays. Additionally, employees must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Prior experience handling chemicals, following procedures at laboratory scale, and conducting instrumental analysis such as gas chromatography, FTIR, and spectrometry a plus
- Bachelor of Science degree in relevant program (chemistry, biology) or Associate's degree plus applicable work experience
- Prior experience working in a quality lab environment is preferred
- Applicants must be able to work unsupervised
- Knowledge of ISO standards and quality control is advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
