Job Highlights

The Shift Supervisor is a key member of the site leadership team and is responsible for Safety, Production and Staffing for hourly production operators at our 24/7 Chemical Plant.

  • Act as the Incident Commander of the Kalama Plant Emergency Response Team by assuming control in the event of an emergency, assessing the situation, and directing the required actions to minimize the impact to personnel and to the environment.
  • Supervise hourly employees to ensure expectations regarding safety, production, and behavior are being met. 
  • Demonstrate a complete understanding of product manufacturing practices and procedures to include equipment function and proper use.
  • Responsible for off-shift plant security including the responsibilities associated with toluene ship offloads.
  • Provide the communication link to Maintenance based on the needs and priorities you observe.
  • Collect and communicate key information with regard to manufacturing operations, equipment status and overall organizational needs and observations to the correct person (s) to resolve and implement.
  • Responsible for managing shift coverage for call-offs, labor gaps, emergency holdovers, and other situations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred) or 5+ years chemical plant operations experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, strong leadership skills and proven ability to successfully train and motivate employees to alter their behavior patterns and learn new skills. 
  • Prior experience acting as an incident commander and/or emergency response is highly preferred. Must be willing to trained in confined space entry/rescue, basic firefighting and first aid. 
  • Knowledge of equipment and unit operations in a chemical plant environment.
  • A demonstrated record of generating a sense of urgency in self and others to achieve objectives and tasks safely, ahead of or on schedule and with high quality.
  • Strong PC skills and computer expertise with Microsoft Office.
  • Availability to work a rotating ABCD shift schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays).

  • Compensation: We offer competitive compensation packages, inclusive of a global bonus program and an individual performance bonus program. In accordance with Washington state requirements, the established pay range for this position is Min: $83,300 to Max: $138,800.
