Job Highlights

  • Manage safety training for the Naugatuck & Shelton employees (on-boarding, compliance training, via self and outsourced trainers). Ensure that contractors are provided required safety training through coordination with the site Maintenance contractor. Ergonomic assessments as required. Maintain safety training records.
  • RCMS Activities:  Compliance related plans, actions, documentation, training, Audit preparation and execution.  Documentation of the above in the Safety & Compliance SharePoint portal which is "owned" and maintained by this individual.  RCMS including, but not limited to Compliance Calendar update and actions coordinated, Annual Management review, annual Aspect and Impacts updated.
  • Naugatuck Safety meetings: 
    • Monthly HSE Team meeting (preparation and leadership)
    • Attend Department safety meetings each month (3), present site level content
    • HALO Meeting - Behavior Based Safety - attend, consultant
    • 4 - 4.5 days per week on-site in Naugatuck.
  • Shelton Safety meetings
    • Reconstitute non-existant Shelton site Safety program.  Meet with Office managers and create an appropriate Office program.  0.5 - 1.0 day a week on-site in Shelton.
  • Emergency response & Hazardous Waste Compliance:
  1. Maintain the site Safety Coordinator & First Responder lists and ensure that they are current on appropriate.
  2. Participate in NEMA Naugatuck Emergency Management Association
  3. Ensure emergency trainjing and drills are executed
  4. Coordinate the 90 day pick-up of Waste in both Naugatuck buildings including the contractor preparation visits, signing manifests, maintainming waste profile data with the vendor, filing appropriate regulatory waste reports.
  • Maintain, create, record, and distribute the monthly corporate NAFTA HSE KPI report.  Maintain HSSE statistical databases for assessment, planning, and management reporting on a regular basis.  Track Naug/Shelton site level corrective actions with associated OSHA recordable incidents, and any HSE or facilities corrective actions.

Additional Job Responsibilities

  • Acts as the main Connecticut safety contact for all employees reporting to the Naugatuck and Shelton.  Works with Corporate PTSE / HSEQ and Business Unit HSE experts and the Facilities Managers to ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and CT State regulations and LXS Directives.  Maintains the site OSHA 300 log and electronic reporting requirements to OSHA.
  • Incident and accident investigations.  
  • Leadership role in investigations, TapRoot trained, proper documentation in Velocity and Intelex systems achieved.
  • Guide SOP, JSA, MOC type activities of employees

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a safety related field of study is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of EHSS experience with knowledge of occupational safety, environmental, security, and waste handling requirements.
  • Knowledge of Connecticut laws and regulations strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, SharePoint, other specific Software to be learned if not already proficient.
  • Must be able to interact professionaly and successfully with various levels of management, up to and including senior management.  An ideal candidate would be a people person and proactive in engaging with others.
