- Plans and executes expedient and efficient processing of customer orders in the SAP system to ensure products are delivered to LANXESS’ customers on time and without problems. This includes maintenance of customer messages and contact information in Customer Master Data records, notifying warehouse/yard/terminal of special customer requests and shipping arrangements verifying price and incoterms on purchase orders.
- Timely assignment of available inventory to comply with LANXESS transportation/warehousing lead times and meet with customer’s delivery requirements. May include discussions with management and/or sales to review changes in customer’s demands or deviations of requirements. Reports inventory shortages or issues to the Inventory Planner.
- Coordinates shipping and delivery between warehouse/yard/terminal and customers. This requires knowledge of LANXESS logistics procedures, transportation methods, and regulations. Monitor/Tracking of railcar fleet to ensure a continuous supply to the customer, coordinate inspection with GPL, shift fleet as demand fluctuates to avoid/reduce storage charges.
- Imports parcel shipments to customers terminal. This involves coordination with global counterparts for product availability, vessel schedule, import documentation, and arrival notices.
- Recommend and execute corrective actions for problems encountered in shipping, billing and damaged or returned inventory. Communicate to the central logistics department internal and external supplier non-compliance issues for entry into the Complaint System.
- Investigates and resolves customer deductions; identifies and corrects contributing factors to avoid future deductions. Calculates demurrage/storage and issues debit notes to customers.
Requirements
- BA/BS Degree in Business, Logistics, or Supply Chain with 5 years related experience preferred. Equivalent business or industry experience will be considered.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficient working knowledge of SAP (or similar ERP) in a manufacturing environment.
- Functional knowledge of MS Excel and Power Point to provide support to Business Line Directors/Sales/Product Management and Customers.
- The position requires strong organizational, communication and time management skills.
- Excellent problem solving, persuasion, negotiation and conflict resolution skills are critical.
- Ability to quickly grasp general business and market information as well as related technical information regarding LANXESS products and transportation requirements needed by customer.
- Transportation operations and or International Logistics experience are a plus.
- This is a HYBRID role with the expectation to be on-site at the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania location several days per week every week.
