Job Highlights

  • Responsible for department annual budget and related activities; hiring personnel, etc
  • Advise on IT enhancement requests for EHS, GLM, SAP ERC updates, and activities of other databases to ensure NAFTA compliance requirements are met
  • Consistent with Corporate Directives and Standards, and  direction from HSEQ Leadership in Germany, the Responsible Care Codes and  Global Product Strategy; coordinate responsibilities and provide advice on complex BU projects (i.e. acquisitions) and ensure NA regulatory requirements and deadlines are met
  • Ensure compliance with applicable NAFTA chemical regulations as these pertain to LANXESS products, delegate PSRA support to these topics and ensure that business needs are met while meeting compliance requirements.  Manage respective EU REACH registration dossiers and support regulatory actions taken by authorities globally in cooperation with local organization and HQ
  • Perform problem solving on daily PSRA business processes and tasks shared between the PSRA teams
  • Drive for continued integration of LANXESS Solutions and other M&A projects into LANXESS by implementing standard and global daily work flows for regulatory and product safety activities,  and ensure governance of regulatory data management in SAP EHS systems
  • Ensure transportation incidents are reviewed and corrective actions identified and handled when appropriate by PSRA for products classified as dangerous good for transport
  • Monitor NAFTA Regulations such as OSHA, WHMIS, US EPA, US FDA, PMRA, CEPA, ECCN and HTS, and applicable state/regional chemical regulations, including but not limited to those pertaining to hazard communication, chemical control registration, food contact approval, transportation of dangerous goods and modes of transport and interpret impact on Lanxess products,  Notify BUs of this information

Requirements

  • BS in chemistry, biology, chemical eng or related science.  Master’s degree preferred
  • Leadership and project management experience required
  •  Knowledge of regulatory requirements is essential in the following areas: UN GHS (Globally Harmonized System), OSHA Hazard Communication Standard, WHMIS (Workplace Hazard Material Information System), and Mexico NOM-018-STPS -2015; Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and REACH, U.S. and DOT, TDG, IMDG, ICAO
  • An understanding of general toxicology
  • Individual problem-solving skills necessary for evaluating complex regulatory topics and evaluating risk management
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of management throughout LANXESS and to relate proactively with customers and vendors, governmental, and non-governmental organization representatives
  • Experience using SAP EH&S or another equivalent SDS authoring database
