Job Highlights

  • Ensure Owners Engineering, evaluation and granting competencies for the Process Control Technology (PCT) disciplines (Process Control Systems, Instrumentation and E-technology) during all project stages and ensure compliance with LXS Guideline RL-0071 and 0036.
  • Develop, specify and supervise all necessary PCT activities to ensure the project goals are delivered in time to budget and quality in a safe manner.
  • Develop and refine scope, budget and timeline according to the PCT requirements in the project in close agreement with the main stakeholders (PM, other disciplines, operation, Competence Centers e.g. CC PCT, etc.) and ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Project Manager or Steering Committee in case of PCT Projects.
  • Develop, determine and implement execution-, procurement- and construction strategy and keep this updated to actual progress. Manage all changes focusing on the project goals by setting and implementing suitable countermeasures taking interdisciplinary collaboration with all disciplines, business demands and operational necessities into account and ensure appropriate stakeholder management.
  • Supervise and control all PCT contractors (engineering and construction) and ensure efficient management of all contractors (engineering and construction).
  • Support of the LXS business units and other PTSE disciplines in themes like:

    - Execution of PCT GAP analysis
    - Creation of PCT frame concepts / modernization strategies
    - PCT support in HAZOP discussions
    - PCT support in maintenance projects
    - PCT support in during preparation of compliance checks
    - Support in creation of operation concepts
    - Support in the creation of control strategies and process optimization
    - Harmonization of PCT standards depending to the local regulations and technical needs
    - Creation of local standards
    - First level support for BU PCT
    - Training of PCT engineers in new or updated standards
    - Expert for local PCT standards

  • Represent one and more PCT disciplines in LANXESS PCT competence center as lead function and expert fostering knowledge management and experience exchange globally

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel:  Depending on project needs, travel can be up to 50-70%
  • Engineering degree in Process Control Technology disciplines 
  • > 10 years of experience in a Process Control Technology role
  • Knowledge of local and legal regulations in Americas as well as LANXESS requirements. Deep knowledge in breadth and depth with regard to legal and local rules and regulation with the capability to transform and implement them into LANXESS requirements
  • Excellent knowledge of American standards concerning the design of hard- and software applications and requirements
  • PCT technical understanding including basic allocation and assessment competence for all PCT devices and systems common in chemistry
  • Basic knowledge of process engineering for assessing process and control-related relationships requirements
