The Role
As an HSE Officer, you play a key role in safeguarding and improving safety, health and environmental performance within a complex chemical production environment. The emphasis will be on environmental legislation.
You advise management and operations, support projects and ensure that Seveso regulations and European and Dutch regulations & directives are not only followed, but also translated into practical solutions on the shop floor.
You will work within a specialised HSE team at a Seveso-regulated site where safety and compliance are always the top priority. In this role, you combine analysis, advisory work and strong visibility on the plant to continuously improve HSE performance.
Job Highlights
- Key role in environmental performance within an upper-tier Seveso-regulated chemical production site
- Advising line management, operators and project teams in a playing field with increasingly strict regulations
- Safeguarding and continuously improving environmental performance across the organisation
- Supporting the development and application of the HSE management system, such as ISO 14001
- Translating European directives and legislation into practical shopfloor solutions
- Performing and supporting inspections, internal audits and incident investigations
- Providing HSE support during projects, turnarounds and process modifications, including any necessary permit amendments.
- Organising training sessions and awareness programs related to (environmental) legislation
- Analysing HSE data and reporting trends and improvement opportunities internally and externally.
- Intense collaboration with HSE team members on items such as process safety and environmental topics.
- Maintaining contact with external stakeholders such as DCMR Milieudienst Rijnmond, IL&T and VNCI
Experience / Skills
- Bachelor's level education or equivalent working and thinking level
- At least 3 years of HSE experience within Seveso or ARIE environments
- Basic understanding of process safety, MOC process, and legislation
- Experience with risk assessments, audits or incident investigations
- Knowledge of the European Emission Trading System (ETS) is a plus
- Strong communication and advisory skills
- Fluent in Dutch and English; German is a plus.
- Taking ownership of projects and environmental programs.
- Proactive, pragmatic and hands-on mindset
- Able to prioritise and perform effectively in a dynamic production environment
Contract Type: Regular permanent
