Job Highlights

  • Manage U.S. and Canada full cycle payroll operations, personnel and departmental budget and forecasting, and specialized processing including expatriates, long-term incentives, pension, tax handling, fringe benefits.  Leads a team of payroll specialists, providing people leadership through effective coaching, feedback and sound performance management practices.  Multiple payrolls include managing the complexity of differing pay cycles, union and non-unionized facilities as well as multiple State and/or Country regulations
  • Manages the accounting and analytical activities related to payroll processes and provides interface and support to various Finance functions (including payroll related journal entries and accruals, garnishments, taxes, funding, etc.) 

  • Establish regional organization-wide standards, best practices, documentation of policies and procedures ensuring compliance with internal policies.  Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all payroll system, processes, ERP and general ledger interfaces, time interfaces and feeds to third party vendor

  • Manage maintenance of internal and external interfaces to and from payroll system in conjunction with third party vendors

  • Responsible for managing the day-to-day time and attendance system for the region as it relates to importing time and attendance files, training new users, reviewing time entries, supporting users, and reporting

  • Manage audits and testing with both internal and external auditors.  Respond to tax inquiries and audits

  • Serves as best practice/quality resource within own discipline or as technical expert on functional or cross-functional teams or projects

  • Performs analysis, generates reports and assists various group functions and business units with special projects.  Prepares communications as appropriate to support initiatives, projects or changes in process

  • Project lead for payroll related projects, including process improvements, integration of acquired payrolls, and other payroll related implementations.  Manage relationships with operational payroll vendors and service providers.  Adapts existing payroll processes/methods or devises new approaches without precedent, to address atypical situations

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, or accounting. Professional certifications through American Payroll Association as a CPP.
  • Extensive knowledge of FLSA laws, IRS regulations, ESA (Canada) standards and procedures.
  • 5-10 Years experience with multi-state/multi-country payrolls including both union and nonunion.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of general accounting principles and payroll operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with problem solving capability.
