The West Hill facility began its operations in 1962, The first operation at the West Hill site consisted of a custom blending facility for a major Canadian oil and gas company. In 1992, the property at 565 Coronation Drive was purchased. It currently houses offices, a research and development laboratory and a finished goods warehouse.

Today, around 100 employees work at the West Hill facility where we manufacture Grease and Specialty Additives. Our grease is used to keep machinery running smoothly in food processing, manufacturing, marine, power generation and many other industries. Our Specialty Additives and lubricants are used in automotive, marine and aviation oils, transmission fluids and fuels to enhance performance and extend engine life.

 

Both sites (Elmira and West Hill) are registered under the ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management standards.

 

Job Highlights

  • Direct the production & shipping work force in the daily execution of the production schedule, ensuring the department meets all production orders at the right quality, time, and lowest cost.
  • Oversee production scheduling, focusing on efficient use of resources.
  • Manage the operational budget, including managing inventory levels and process order variations from batch records.
  • Ensure safe work habits and conditions in all production areas, work closely with HSE Manager to prevent incidents and injuries in the plant.
  • Oversee training and development of all shift operations employees. Monitor staffing levels and training/cross-training to minimize business disruption due to staffing issues.
  • Oversee site emergency response systems & policies in conjunction with HSE Manager.
  • Ensure accurate daily reporting of production data, generate trend reports (e.g. SAP, MxMax, MobyCheck, etc.).
  • Provide functional leadership to support the manufacturing infrastructure. Communicate equipment status, initiatives and risks to other departments to meet the goals of the organization.
  • Reporting of KPIs and input into site management meetings, as well as communication with off-site management.
  • Follow up on problems that cause production to vary from standard efficiency and quality.
  • Identify root cause of production and quality upsets, and take corrective actions to eliminate future instances. Identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Liaise between with Production Scheduler, Process and Maintenance departments to quickly resolve equipment, process, quality and efficiency problems.
  • Provide project and process safety input into production improvement projects.
  • Provides input to Canada LAB business continuity planning.
  • This role will also be responsible for providing direction and guidance to site engineering staff to ensure the continuity of day-to-day operations and priority setting.
  • Provide performance feedback to team and coach others on how to promote positive employee relations through effective conflict management and issue resolution. Manages performance of team and provides ongoing feedback and annual reviews through the Talent Database.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of proven experience in similar managerial/leadership positions in Operations organizations in the Petrochemical, Chemical or Oil and Gas industries. (must have)
  • Expertise in implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives, operator competence and training program (an asset)
  • Strong knowledge of batching in SAP (BOMs, formulations) (an asset)
  • Understanding of intellectual property and protection
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English/strong computer skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence others to drive results
  • Able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
