Lanxess UK are looking for a Production Operator to join our Day Team in Baxenden!

About the role!

The primary responsibility of the role of the day man Production Operator including road tanker offloading, drumming off MDI from bulk into IBC’s or drums, drumming down for customer samples and to operate manual or semi-automatic plant and equipment. To carry out batch processes, to convert chemical raw materials into industrial products such as Polyurethane Foams to meet product volume sales demand.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor and/or Shift Charge hand

Key Responsibilities: 

• Working days manufacturing products in Foam systems chemical reactors, manufacturing DP8692 wet, drying DP8692 wet, offloading road tankers and drumming off MDI from bulk into IBC’s and drums.
• Sampling raw materials and finished goods and carrying out drumming down operations.
• To accurately follow detailed written/ verbal process and safety instructions including use of personal protective equipment. 
• Pick and sample raw materials, weigh material into reactors, monitor instruments and operate equipment/valves to set conditions. 
• Take in process samples, liaise with QC and pack the finished product into the containers. 
• Keep detailed records/ fill in records as required.

Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Ensure that all work is performed in a safe, orderly and clean manner and be able to demonstrate understanding and respect for potential hazardous materials.
• Work with minimum Supervision.
• Interpret and follow batch sheet instructions and other written working instructions.
• Exercise effective written and verbal communications including completion of written logs and other documented reporting.
• Due to the nature of work there will be a considerable amount of manual handling, must therefore be fit and physically able to carry out activities required of the role.

Day Shift Hours of work are 40 hours per week 08:00am-16:00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive.
