Customer Service Specialist
Manchester, MAN, GB, M17 1WT
Job Highlights
Are you an experienced B2B customer service professional with a background in manufacturing, industrial, or hazardous-goods environments? Do you enjoy building long term business relationships and supporting technically complex order flows in a fast paced, international setting?
At LANXESS, we create high performance specialty chemicals that power essential industries worldwide. As part of our European Shared Services Customer Function, you’ll support major global accounts, ensuring efficient, compliant and customer focused order management for our industrial clients.
What You’ll Do
As a Customer Service Representative, you will play a key role in supporting our business customers across Europe. You will:
• Own and manage relationships with a portfolio of major global B2B accounts, acting as their trusted point of contact.
• Handle end to end order management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and on time delivery across complex supply chains.
• Collaborate closely with sales, logistics, supply chain, production planning and regulatory teams to resolve issues and maintain a high-quality service experience.
• Discuss product availability, lead times, alternative supply options, and inventory strategies with customers.
• Interpret and work with customer forecasts, supporting demand planning activities and helping production planners ensure appropriate stock levels.
• Proactively identify changes in customer demand and provide timely feedback to internal stakeholders.
• Support customers with quality or technical concerns, managing complaint cases from entry through to resolution and communication.
• Ensure accurate maintenance of customer master data, order records and billing documentation.
• Support our ongoing digitalisation and process improvement initiatives within the business unit.
Experience and Skills
What We’re Looking For
• Fluent English (additional European languages highly desirable – German preferred)
• Experience in B2B customer service or order management (consumer customer service experience is not applicable for this role)
• An understanding of working within regulated or hazardous goods environments—including compliance considerations for technical product enquiries—is important for this role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills – you’ll work in a multicultural environment
• Ability to prioritise, work independently, and stay proactive under pressure
• A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a love for learning
Nice-to-Haves
• SAP or similar ERP experience
• Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, or international trade
