The lubricant additives business units product portfolio of lubricants include synthetic base oils, lubricant additives, additive packages, and formulated lubricants. These are used in a wide variety of areas, in the automotive industry, in mechanical engineering, in metal processing, in shipbuilding, and even in the aviation industry. The lubricants are also used for engines, gearboxes, and other industrial applications in the power-generation, refrigeration, mining, constructions, primary metal, and food processing industries. Protect power trains from wear or extend the service life of machines when exposed to extreme temperatures Lanxess is developing special solutions for these applications.

Lanxess is looking for a Plant Engineer to join us at our Trafford Park location. 

About the Role:
As part of the engineering team the Plant Engineer is responsible for process and mechanical duties within the assigned area for the Trafford Park site. In consideration of the current health, safety, and environmental legislations and the site and company standards you have to ensure that the inspection and maintenance routines are suitable and sufficient to enhance reliability, compliance, and safety.
•    Involvement in process safety and hazard analysis (HAZOP) and process safety compliance with realisation of process safety measures within area of responsibility.
•    Responsible for management of change in relation to technical and engineering facilities.
•    Ensure the mechanical integrity of the plant is consistent with corporate, and UK legislation and standards.
•    Responsible for the performance of all required statutory inspections (PSSR, PRV, LOLER) with approval or rectification of inspection reports and assurance that follow up work is carried out when required.
•    Drive investigations into mechanical failures and implement solutions based on Good Engineering Practice.
•    Take ownership of escalated maintenance issues; carrying out troubleshooting and developing technical solutions to safety, process, and reliability issues.
•    Feed into maintenance and shutdown planning routine and critical tasks.
•    Logging, evaluating, and controlling the maintenance key performance indicators (KPI)
•    Deputy and support the Head of Mechanical Engineering, if required
•    In cooperation with the Head of Projects; Identification, definition, and management of small capital plant projects within the budget and timeline.
•    Carry out engineering design and specify equipment for small projects and modifications
 

Requirements

Role Requirements:
•    Qualification required: Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Degree,
•    Experience in process engineering and/or project engineering
•    Experience in chemical plant reliability and plant maintenance procedures
•    Knowledge of the common legal requirements and technical standards
•    Experience on a Lower or Upper Tier COMAH Site.
•    Ability to troubleshoot and investigate equipment failures that affect plant reliability
•    Knowledge of DSEAR and the management of Mechanical Equipment installed within zoned areas
•    Working knowledge of SAP and competent handling of MS-Office applications
•    Cost awareness and budgetary discipline
•    Able to plan and priorities competing workloads
